- Mandatory Microchips: All pets entering the UK must be microchipped before or at the same time as their rabies vaccination.
- Mandatory Rabies Vaccine: Pets must be up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations. The timing of the vaccination varies depending on the country of origin.
- Booster Vaccinations: Dogs and cats must get regular booster vaccinations are necessary, and their timing can be found in your pet passport or health certificate.
Note: Missing a booster vaccination, even by one day, may require your pet to be revaccinated and blood-tested, leading to a 3-month waiting period before travelling.
Ensuring Your Dog's Tapeworm-Free Entry into the UK
If you plan to bring your dog into the United Kingdom from any country other than Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Malta, or Norway, it is essential to adhere to tapeworm treatment requirements. To meet these requirements, your dog's treatment must:
- Be authorized for use in the respective country.
- Contain praziquantel or an equally effective ingredient against the Echinococcus multilocularis tapeworm.
- Be administered within a timeframe of at least 24 hours but no more than 120 hours (5 days) before your pet's arrival in Great Britain.
